Blockchain Could be as Impactful as the Internet Says Steve Wozniak
According the Apple Co-founder, Steve Wozniak, Blockchain technology could be as big as the internet.
“There are a lot of astounding things that blockchain can do to change lives. It’s kind of like in 2000, we looked at the internet and said look at all these things that could be done by the internet that would change our life someday,” Said Wozniak in Amsterdam at Money20/20.
According to Wozniak, Bitcoin is an “incredible thing” because it is what introduced blockchain technology. He explains that blockchain is incredible because it allows us to keep ledger histories, providing a secure and trustable transactions.
Wozniak uses the real estate industry as a real life use case that blockchain can impact. In real estate, blockchain technology can be used to keep track of sales and establish contracts.
Another example that Wozniak explains is that blockchain technology can be used to track minerals. Minerals are used to make up everything in the world. Blockchain can be used to keep track of their supply chain from being mined to being used in a manufacturing facility.
When asked about the future of finance and the implications of blockchain technology on currencies, Wozniak references Jack Dorsey saying that in 10 years everything will be done by digital currencies.
No one can say for certain where cryptocurrencies will be in ten years. That said, Steve Wozniak was the visionary that helped build Apple into it is today and might be worth taking a hint from.
